Information and Communication Technology (ICT)
“Technology will not replace great teachers, but technology in the hands of great teachers can be transformational.” — George Couros

Information and Communication Technology (ICT) at our school is designed to empower every learner; from our youngest K4 students to our graduating seniors. We provide a reliable, secure, and future‑ready technological environment that supports inquiry, creativity, and academic excellence across all grade levels.
Our ICT program ensures that students and teachers have access to robust digital tools, well‑maintained devices, and responsive technical support. Through thoughtful integration of technology in the classroom, we help students build digital literacy, collaborate effectively, and engage with learning in meaningful, appropriate ways.
Above all, our goal is to create a technology ecosystem that is safe, dependable, and aligned with international best practices, so that every student can learn with confidence and every teacher can teach without barriers.

Technology plays an important role in learning at the International School of Curaçao. To ensure that every student can work safely, responsibly, and effectively, we provide guidelines for how school devices, online services, and the campus network should be used. These expectations help protect our community and support a positive learning environment for everyone.
By reviewing and signing this agreement, students acknowledge their responsibility to use technology respectfully, follow safety practices, and uphold the values of our school while online. Together, we can maintain a secure and reliable digital space that supports learning from K4 through Grade 12.

The Internet is an open communication medium available to everyone. It allows us to communicate easily and access a wide range of information, making it an invaluable resource for education. However, like any technology, it also exposes users to potential risks.
At ISC, we are aware of the dangers associated with the use of technology and online resources. For this reason, the school has invested in cybersecurity systems that help protect our network. All ISC devices are equipped with internet security solutions to safeguard against viruses, malware, ransomware, and other threats. These tools have also helped us identify suspicious traffic originating from infected non‑ISC devices (personal laptops, tablets, and smartphones).
To minimize cyber risks, we require all MS/HS students to have up‑to‑date internet security software installed on every device they plan to connect to the school’s network.
Important
Parents and students are responsible for installing the software and ensuring it remains updated and operational.
Only devices with the required security software will be allowed to join ISC’s network. An inventory will be conducted on the first day of school.
No security program can guarantee complete protection; however, having one significantly reduces the risk of infection from viruses and malware.
Many vendors offer free versions, but these often have limitations that affect real‑time protection.
Below are some of the top multi‑device internet security systems available.
Top Multi‑Device Internet Security Systems
Avira Internet Security for Windows | Avira Mobile Security for iOS
Bitdefender Family Pack
Bitdefender Total Security
McAfee Total Protection
Kaspersky Internet Security or Kaspersky Total Security
Avast Premium Security

Google Apps for Education (GAFE) is a cloud-based system offering online productivity tools for classroom collaboration. GAFE provides students and teachers with cloud storage in Google Drive, Docs, Sheets and Slides. GAFE also provides student email and other online communication tools.
A Gmail account hosted on our own domain (isc.cw) will be provided to the students, enabling better security and oversight. Accounts will be managed by our Technology Department, which means that the school will have more control over settings, security and filtering.
Using Google Apps for Education on our own domain also means the Google will not collect or use any student data for advertising purpose, which makes our email more secure than other services such as ‘gmail.com’ , ‘outlook.com’ or ‘yahoo.com’.
Benefits
With Gmail, students will be able to:
Send and receive emails and notifications (connected to the Portal) to stay up to date with tasks, assignments and school events.
Access their school email from anywhere online on any device with a modern browser.
Enjoy the extra apps: Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Classrooms.
Security Settings
Students will be able to send/receive emails ONLY to/from isc.cw, students.isc.cw and plusportal.com.
Note: Other domains could be added when needed after Principal’s approval.
Student Use of Technology
All rules stipulated in the Agreement Student Use of Technology apply to this new Google Apps EDU platform.
Parent Consent Form
Only students who have returned their Parent/Guarding consent form will get access to the new email system.
